Hello,
This is my first message. I ordered Prilosec OTC via the mail. Then realized that I couldn't wait
for it and mistakenly picked up 24 HR Prevacid today.
Question is can I go from one to the other without problems.
I have a hiatal hernia and had surgical repair of aneurysm of abdominal aorta in March.
Before this I had taken a RX called Aciphex followed by Nexium and store brand
omeprazole. Forgive my spelling. I'm uninsured and will see my doctor Aug. 1st.

Hi 63 Hottie,

Welcome to Healing Well! You're definitely in the right place. I've never heard of any problems switching from one PPI to another. Many people are switched from brand to brand while they look for one that works for them. I personally wouldn't hesitate to use the one you have until you get the mail order brand.

Could you call your doctor and ask this question? The other really great resource you could use is your pharmacist. I often call or stop in to ask the pharmacist questions like this one.

Here is a very good resource you might find helpful:

Best wishes,
Denise

Thank you Denise

With or without insurance, my doctor doesn't take phone calls. I have an appointment Aug. 1st
and I'll ask him everything then. My heartburn and acid reflux has come back in spite of taking
ppi's. So I'm switching from the generic to Prevacid right now.

Hi 63 Hottie,

I think that sounds like a good plan. I don't think it'll cause an ounce of trouble, but if you have any worries, be sure to call the pharmacist. They're always happy to help out. As I said, people are always switching from one PPI to another with no wait time in between.

Good luck!
Denise
