Question about Running and GERD

I searched previous threads to see if I could find this question. Sorry if it's a repeat, I didn't see it on here though. I was wondering if anyone else with GERD suffers from their GERD when they exercise? Whenever I run, my chest feels like it's on FIRE. It's the only way to describe it...then I kind of panic and almost hyper ventilate...When I calm down, I can regulate my breathing but my chest feels really heavy and like it's on fire and it stops around the back of my throat...It makes me kind of nauseous too. As soon as I stop running, and walk, the burning eases off and goes away. However, as soon as I start running, it starts right back up again with the burning. Does any one else have this issue and if you do what do you do to avoid it? Thanks in advance!

You probably suffer from a very weak LES. The jarring motion of running makes the acid splash up into your esophagus.

Others here have tried to avoid eating or drinking two hours before running. They make sure their stomach is empty before any exercise. this is not a promise it will help, but some say it helps and some say it doesn't help.

DX Graves Disase 1998 (RI 131 ablation), currently, post ablative hypothyroidism

I am a 20-25 mile a week runner and I almost always had bad reflux while running. I usually ran in the morning before eating and it was still bad. I just had surgery so I am not back to running yet. Hopefully it will be better.
