I tried 5HT, which is the nearest to it that you can get in the uk. I didn't notice any benefit but in the trial the melatonin was used in combination with B vitamins and zinc. You need the B vitamins to utilise the melatonin... I think.

My OH may be going to your side of the pond on business soon; I'll see if he can get me some melatonin!!

i took 6 milligrams of time release melatonin every night for more than six months and it did not alleviate my gerd to any noticeable degree , in fact over that period of time i was getting worse

i suspect i have auto immune issues but i cant prove that

and i cant get my insurance provider to authorize the tests because, i suspect, they dont want to open pandoras box with a test that may not point to a cure but lots of testing and treatment that is a great expense to them

Thanks for replying...

I was reading about this guy who developed an autoimmune disease after taking melatonin

Here is the link...of the guy who this happened to...

http://forums.heartburn-help.com/showthread.php?t=8645

I was taking it but I stopped after 30 days didnt feel different also but was thinking about this guy development of thyroid disease...and Rhumotoid Arthritis....

Anyways not sure if I will go back to it but I also took tryptophan with it and Vitamins...

He cured his GERD he said with the melatonin...

So just wondering if you develop anything after taking it or you suspected an autoimmune disease...

ive seen medical research papers that indicate melatonin can aggravate autoimmune disease

i have never seen a suggestion that moderate doses of melatonin cause autoimmune disease

have you?

Well some say that 3-6mg is too much already no?

I readddd that ppl take about less than 1mg like .3mg almost....

Just paranoid I guess. I wish I could take it the full 40 days and see what would happened but i am waiting on some special tests...

Meds and am taking Melatonin only and I am glad to say I am feeling

Bloodaxe, how are you feeling though?

Do you have any muscle pain?

Are you still on the melatonin?

Do you still have GERD?

As I said I am feeling much better.
Why should I have muscle pain?
I think Melatonin is giving symptom relief, yes I still have GERD but it's
Less of a problem.

Bumped thread for Dude1969.

Sadly Mock Turtle isn't posting at the moment but Nickles may still drop in from time to time and would be a good member to discuss the natural remedies with too.
