throat tingling/numbness

recently had an upper gi series and it showed a small Duodenal ulcer
dr said that it wasnt the ulcer causing the the throat/neck sensations (feels like a burning sensation that goes from adams apple to jawline, doesnt hurt its just really annoying having this feeling ) said it may be refulx, it doesnt hurt when i swallow i do have some hoarseness tho
i started prilosec thursday and havent had munch relief as of yet
anything else i can do till my next appt on friday?

Give your medicine time to work. You can try some liquid antiacids to help it out until it kicks in full time.

Meanwhile you can raise the head of the bed 6-8 inches.

As Joy recommended, and if one PPI doesn't work for you, ask for another. I only got relief from Nexium, but my sis is OK with Prilosec. Some work longer than others - google "duration of action." I found Zantac helped too, took that one in the evening.

Timing of the meds makes a big difference too! I found taking PPIs a half hour to an hour before breakfast, and making sure to eat at least a little breakfast is important. The pills depend on you eating breakfast! They will not work nearly as well without it.

anyone else have this neck throat sensations if it is indeed reflux?

Yes. it could be.

some clues:

if hoarseness starts in the morning when you wake up, right after you eat or 1 hr after you eat it could be reflux.
