I am considering am considering having the new transoral incisionless fundoplication.  My doctor has done 70 of them.  Do you think this is enough procedures so I won't have problems?  Has anyone had the TIF?  Please let me know your experiences.  Thanks.

I'd be worried with only 70 under his belt. It's a tricky procedure and the results for success is not as high as the nissen.

I had a partial wrap (270 degrees) done and I've have very little problems.

If you have a hiatal hernia bigger than 2cm then you can't have it or your stomach will be pulled into your chest. They stretch your esophagus down some and pinch it to your stomach.

The procedure is new enough that you probably will not find a doctor with much more experience than 70 surgeries. Search this site and Medscape and you can find information on both surgeries. Most of what you find on Google is by EsophyX and their information is obviously bias.

My surgeon had done over 300. It's been approved for 10 years now in the USA.

My doctor had been doing it in the clinical trials for GA. He told me he had been doing them for 8 yrs when I saw him 2 yrs ago. I figured they have been approved that long. Mea Culpa.

You were fortunate to have a doctor with so much experience. Did your TIF work out well for you?

It turned out my HH was too big and he did his own version of the 270 degree. He promised it would last a long time.
