I have to say I'm feeling pretty good at the mo. I have been on Nexium for just over a week and can feel the difference already. I'm not refluxing, I have no sour taste in my mouth, and hardly any throat irritations. I don't think I'm out of the woods yet, but it's a good start smilewinkgrin
The biggest challenge I have is getting back on my treadmill which I'm gonna attempt today. Last time I had really bad reflux, and got breathless real quick and generally felt horrid. I hate the way this disease has intruded in my life, but I'm no gonna let it win!!!! I'm not normally a person who gets depressed easily, but I have had some really down days. When I was at my worst, I couldn't see a light at the end of the tunnel all I wanted to do was stay in bed all day and do nothing. But, I have pushed my way through and I'm doing my best to look on the bright side especially now these new meds are helping me so much. I wanted to share my good news with you all as I know how crappy life can get and desperate you can feel when the pain is at it's worst.........I hope you all feel better soon, and have a lovely weekend. Loz x

hi lozzy,

  • a few helpful tips:
  • make sure you dont eat 3hrs before running.
  • make sure you dont eat a big meal before running.
  • start running at a very slow pace. maybe a brisk walk first.
  • try to keep your back straight so you dont bend too much at waist.

good luck and keep us posted!

-Jesse

Thanks for the tips...........I did have a run I managed 30 mins, I didn't go as fast or incline as high as I normally would but I got through it without any pain turn I had a little soreness in my chest and I was producing a bit more mucus than normal but overall I was happy how it went. I think it's a case of taking baby steps and working my way back to where I was, but that could take a few months yet. x

I've been on Nexium for about 6 weeks now, and I must say for me it's been like a miracle cure. I can now exercise on my treadmill with no problems at all, I can have the odd alcoholic drink and as long as I don't stuff myself, I can get away with most foods.

I have been taking 40mg a day, but have found at that dose it does cause weight gain for me. I have spoken to my doctor about this and unfortunately in some people this can be a problem. I have played around with my dosage and have found that 20mg does nothing for my symptoms at all. I have discovered that you can get 10mg granules in sachets, and I'm trying 30mg a day and that seems to be working as it not only keeps the symptoms at bay, but I have lost 5 of the 7 pounds I put on whilst taking 40mg per day. It really is trial and error with this drug but for me it's the best medication you can take for reflux, and any digestive disorders. turn

Hi there I take 30g first thing in the morning, and on that dose I can basically eat and drink most things as long as I don't over do it.

Hope that helps.
