I am now 4+weeks post nissens fundoplication revision, hernia repair and gastropexy. I was doing well up until 2 weeks ago; I was back to almost a normal diet and I had stopped all medication and now I have completely regressed back to soft foods due to either increased swelling or a partial blockage but my surgeon decided to go on holidays and deal with this when he returns in 3 weeks. The eating part isn't difficult, but I am experiencing heart burn, to the point that I am taking more medication then I was prior to surgery. I don't drink pop, coffee, juice. I am basically only having milk and water, but everytime I drink water especially at night (i would have eaten in the last 2 hrs) I get heartburn and I cant get rid of it. I am very frustrated and depressed. I feel like I went through with this second surgery and it has been a complete waste. I know that other co-morbidities dont help the situation but I have lost 50lb.
HELP!!!

nursemal-
It seems you may have pushed it a bit too soon my friend. 2 weeks is about the worst time for swelling. Try going back to the beginning diet wise and slowly build back up. I know I am gonna have a hard time taking it slow when I get my redo of my redo. That doesn't sound right.LOL! My perfect wrap was wrecked when they tore my esophagus and put a stent through the wrap for a month. One little bump in the road and it all came undone.
I don't believe it was waste, just need to go easy and let it heal. I found out that it took 4.5 months for the hole to completely heal and only the patch on the outside was holding the stuff in my esophagus.
If you don't mind me asking why did you need a redo?

Take care,
Bill
