This is a repost. I posted this about 2 weeks ago.  Denise and Bill responded. Thank you.  Just wanting to see if many people have this.....I was due to take my pill at 7.  Took it at 5 because I could tell a possible attack was starting.  It is being held back, but I can tell it hasn't calmed down yet.  Just uncomfortable.
Pain maybe 1 or 2.  This is how it starts.  But pill is working.  I'm hoping soon it kicks in totally.
I take 20mg Prilosec daily.  I woke up one morning 2 years ago with terrible pain right below my breastbone.  Pain was a 10.  Spent 5 hrs in ER.  They sent me home still in pain.  I was really depressed feeling the same way and going home.  I got home and took a 20mg Prilosec.  First time I had taken one.  3 hours later pain stopped.
I try once in a while to come off this and I'll have another attack.  I tried to come off this the last 2 days.  Woke up this morning 3:00 AM with an attack, took the pill and now 8 hrs later I'm feeling better.  I've had about 20 attacks.  Usually 2-8 hrs and I'm fine.  I never have an attack if I take the pill daily.  My question is, Does anyone have this?  One DR told me this is a spasm.  I was almost ready to take a 2nd Prilosec.  I'm feeling better right now.  It took 8 hrs...Thank you!!!
I have tried all the antacids, no help. As serious as this is, the pain is big time 10, A couple of times I massaged my solarplex area and pain stopped in 1 mnute. Hard to believe. 8 hours of suffering this morning. The massage must have relaxed the spasm. Also my abdomen swells out, bloated when this attack happens. And when taking a deep breath, my whole abdomen feels sore when this is going on. As soon as the Prilosec kicks in, I'm good to go.....

Also, has anyone ever taken 2 Prilosec 20mg in 24 hrs. I usually take 1 Prilosec daily.
I have read where some take 2. The hospital gave me Nexium which is 40 mg.

I also have had pain below the breast bone and massaging it helps relieve the pain. I had the TIF surgery but still had the pain. The doctor put me on Carafate and my pain is mostly gone. A couple of years ago my doctor put me on two Nexium a day but it did not seem to help much so I stopped.

Have you seen a GI doctor for this problem?? I am not a doctor but I sure wouldn't feel like you do and not seek medical advice.. I refer to a GI doc because if Prilosec helps you, it may be something gastro in nature.. Please before medicating yourself incorrectly call and get the name of a good GI doc and let him/her check you out..

Let us know how you are doing..

You can take 2 prilosec a day. It basically equals 1 nexium. Try Zegrid(same active ingrediant as prilosec), as it is coated in sodium bicarbonate, which helps absorption. There are people who take 2 40mg nexium a day which equals 4 prilosec/zegrid.
