I woke this morning with a lump in the left side of my throat. I have a deviated septum on the right so everything goes to the left side. The lump and throat are burning like mad!

My anxiety was off the wall! I gargled with Colgate Perxoyl (sp?) and took a amitriptyline (Xanax) pill.

I called my GI doc and wanted to know if I should go to an ENT and his nurse told me to come in so he could check me. I have a 12:30 appt today.

I trust him completely as he's very caring and wants to make you well. He's been a GI doc for 35 years so I'm sure he's seen a lot of GERD folks.

Do GI doc do nasal/throat scopes? Are they able to tell if it's the acid causing and actually see the throat/esophagus? I think I'll have to go in to the hospital and have a complete scope done.

Thank you for ready and I hope you will reply.

God bless,
Cme

Good morning CME and welcome to the forum.

I hope your GI doc can alleviate your anxiety and give you some answers. He can make you an appointment for a scope of the throat if you need it.

Keep in touch and let us know how it's going.

Thank you for the prompt relpy Alcie.

I forgot to put in a subject in the line and don't know how to do so now that I've posted. Perhaps a moderator can do it for me.

My GI doc has scoped me twice already. Endoscope that is. I don't know if they do a scope (don't know what it's called) of the throat like an ENT does. But...guess I'll find out today.

I'd really appreciate a prayer!

Thanks again Alcie, it was kind of you to take time out to do so.

God bless,

Thank you very much for the 'subject.' Couldn't have done it better myself! :-)

ENT do throat scopes. Takes 10 min... they can tell if you have reflux in the throat area.

Thank you Jesse. I will probably try my ENT next to check for it although I'm sure I have it. I just don't know how bad it is.
