Had excessive heartburn last night. It was awful, and I chewed on a lot of tums. Long story short when I wake up in the morning after chewing on tums all night, my mouth tastes absolutely horrible. I assume its the tums. Anyone else notice that? It takes like half a day to get the taste out of your mouth...

It had been a while since I had resorted to tums for nighttime heartburn

I notice it too. Horrible, chalky goodness. I feel like I have the breath of a dyspeptic alligator.

exactly. its horrible, no? I don't smoke but I imagine smoking a pack and vomiting before sleeping would leave a better taste in my mouth. I hadn't had to rely on TUMS during sleep for a while, hate to have to do it...

Have an appt. with my GI for the 30th and am hoping to find out what I can do...take a PPI and risk right side pain (or put up with it), keep on keeping on as is, etc. Does he think its acidic reflux or non-erosive, etc. So many questions to hopefully have answered. That makes nights like last night easier to forget...

ummmmm tums...or the costco generic equivalent etc....lately i eat em like candy...love that chalky after-taste

there are calcium, magnesium and aluminum ant-acid pills stuffed into every nook and cranny, pocket, purse and pill box scattered thru-out the house and cars... (dont take aluminum ant-acids much anymore for obvious reasons)

i recently suggested to a local vintner that she make tums flavored wine, and im thinking tums flavored cake and ice cream should be a big hit! ;) ;) ;)
