I'm having the strangest dry skin/cracking ONLY at the corners of my mouth. I have never had this before, and the rest of my lips seem to be fine.

Is this a side effect of GERD that I just haven't heard of? And does anyone know how to cure it? I'm putting on ChapStick 100x a day but to no avail, it's been here for about a month now. Very strange!

Thanks! I hope everyone is feeling well :)

Hi Ashley,

Sorry to hear you're having that problem. I'm sure I've had that before, but not for a long time. While I'm sure you've probably already searched the internet for ideas, here are a few I found that discuss cause and treatment. Hope they're helpful!

Here's hoping they heal quickly.
Good luck! turn

My lips were never chapped much at all till my GERD got really bad. They're still chapped and dry and they burn and I can't find anything that keeps them moist.

If you do, let me know.

GERD doesn't exist in a vacuum. . .

Hi there, cracks at the corners of the mouth is a distinct iron deficiency sign. I would ask to have your iron stores measured.

Sometimes zinc deficiency can also do that, or eczema. However it is a recognised iron deficiency sign so I would start with that. If you have any signs of anaemia such as tiredness, breathlessness on exertion or dizziness, I would see your doc soon. Anaemia also tends to make you feel very cold.

New stuff: GERD. Interstitial Cystitis
Lifelong stuff: Food allergies, eczema, asthma

Try that antibiotic lipbalm they make. I think it's made by neosporine?
