I just had my Nissen almost a week ago. I was walking and climbing stairs the next day (albeit verrrrry slowly). I feel pretty capable now. I go on walks with my puppy twice a day, climb the stairs in my home like I would normally. I'm not supposed to lift over 5 pounds but I feel like I'd be fine lifting more, not to say it would be a good idea. Now I'm only 22 so I might recover faster than others.

Yeah Visl -

We should be fine! Will keep you posted as I have a whole week on
you. And like I said, if I can go through with this with my anxiety, I'm
sure you're gonna manage just fine.

We must just look forward to the results being those that allow us
freedom to eat! Lol.

Randy - can I borrow your pup. They bring so much joy don't they.

Good luck - We'll chat
Darryl

Hi visl,

Welcome to Healing Well! Soon we'll be welcoming you to our Wrapped Club! yeah

If you haven't read my early recovery journal, it might help calm some of your fears. Here's the link:

I agree that two weeks is way too soon to go back to your full duties at work. I don't understand your surgeon's thinking. You will presumably have a hernia repair, as most people who need a Nissen have hiatus hernias. Most are told not to lift over 5 pounds for (is it? Correct me if I'm wrong. It's close, though.) at least 6 weeks.

On top of that, you'll still be recovering from the surgery, and you're not going to feel all that energetic.

Perhaps you need to go to your primary care physician and get permission to stay out longer. If you do go back, it should be on limited duty.

Don't worry. You'll do just fine!
Take care,
Denise

Any reflux problem is only masked by taking acid reducing medications, plus relief is temporary, as we age we have too little acid to digest food, surgery is an absolute last resort for anything only after every avenue has been exhausted.............I have found a website Siberian Tiger Naturals that have oils that appear to have excellent results particularly the Extra Virgin Siberian Pine Nut Oil
Also another site might be helpful
