Hi Nickles,

I took a little break from the forum for a while.  It's funny I was just thinking I should pop-in and do some reading and sharing. Yes, I'm still seeing the naturopath.

I'll post again later today when I have some time :o)

Hope you've been well.

Hi Nickles,

I hope you are feeling well. I have shown some improvement but still have bad days. I am still on PPIs and Zantac but I am also seeing the naturopath. She has me on supplements and has told me to avoid dairy products and eggs. I've found that if I eat very small portions, take the PPIs, take the supplements and stay away from a large list of trigger foods I usually feel ok with regards to my LPR. However, if I deviate, i get symptoms.

That being said, I've been in a real slump lately. For several months now, I feel as if my life is ruled by GERD/LPR.

Hey Katherine,

I know exactly how you feel. I made the move into veganism and while I'm on it, I have absolutely no symptoms... but what if I go home for Thanksgiving/Christmas? I'm not ever allowed to eat what I want again, not even for a special day/meal? I realize how indulgent this sounds, but I'm never allowed to overeat again? Ever? I mean I don't plan on it, but if I'm at my aunt's house (who cooks like an angel) and she serves me dinner and a surprise dessert, do I have to turn her down because my GERD won't allow it? Grrr.

UGH!!! So frustrating!

Hang in there honey. We're all here for you :) You too, Nickles!

Hi Ashley,

It is frustrating, thanks for the support. I know it could be worse, I'm just having a hard time right now.

I'm glad to hear veganism is helping you. I am avoiding dairy products and eggs but not meat. In particular, chicken seems to agree with me, of course, depending on how it is cooked.

Do you take meds and supplements also? Or, are you able to control your symptoms with diet alone?

Katherine,

Have you checked youself out for h pylori?
Katherine
I have it and trying to treat it I also had an improvement in my symptoms.. It turns out I had a bacteria. I did a parasite cleanse and got rid of it. Now I need to get rid of the h pylori. I do have better days now. I am also avoidng milk, gluten, corn and soy. Currently I am taking some probiotics an then im gonna get rid of h pylori. This is my belief for those of us who don't have a structural damage like a hernia and all other avenues an things have been ruled out I think the issue lies in the gut with Candida, bacteria, yeast or parasites. This is my opinion and only think this is the ase for ppl who have done extensive tests and have found nothing. Let me know

Hi Nickles,

I was tested for H. pylori and tested negative both a biopsy and blood test.

The naturopath told me to avoid dairy and eggs and I'm taking several supplements, plus high dose PPIs, zantac and very strict diet, or I suffer.

I hope you are feeling better. I was always curious about those types of cleanses - did someone recommend them to you? Or, did you just try them out yourself?

Hi Katherine,

Actually I ordered some tests through my Naturopathic Dr. We were able to find a parasite, h pylori, and yeast.

So we did a parasite cleanse.

This is what I think if you have no structural damage your problem lies in your gut. My belching and burping and fullness dramatically went down after the parasite cleanse. I feel like 85% nowadays. I just need to eradicate h pylori. Nthen I think I will be even better. If you have more questions le me know
