I am having my TIF done Monday 9/19 and would appreciate any advice on what to "eat" during my liquid diet. I don't want to do anything that will hurt my recovery. The company gives a list of foods for each week, but it would be nice to hear from someone who has already gone through this.

Hi Ladytex

I had the Nissen surgery but I think the diet post surgery is basically the same. I got out my blender.. anything you can blend to a puree you can have, my favorite was vegetable beef soup, you can do anything though that will puree.. lots of options for different flavors...
Please frequent this forum and ask all the questions you want, we have all been there in one way or the other and we will be glad to help you in your recovery..

Good luck and don't fear the procedure, relax into it and you will be fine..

one thing I forgot.. you may want to make sure no matter what you "eat" you always have water at your side to sip, helps flush things past the wrap...

Thank you Sandy. Any suggestions are VERY appreciated. I really am not worried about my surgery, but am excited to finally get it done. Been a long road to get here, and I know it will be a long recovery too.

Thank you again for the ideas. It will be nice to have people to talk to about this who have gone through the same thing.

Janice :-)

One difference between the TIF and NF is the TIF has staples that food fibers can catch on. Even if the food goes through a blender it may be a problem because the fibers catch on the staples and tear the surgery out. I had the TIF in April and followed the diet on the TIF web site. In the first part of the diet I had Ensure 2/day, cottage cheese, some cream soups cooled and through the blender, strained soups, yogurt with no fruit, and milk. For the second part of the diet I ate pasta with tofu, mellon, soaked cereal, and runny mashed potatoes. Also stay away from acid producing foods, hot, cold and alcohol. I drank water, milk, apple juice, and Ensure. Watch for constipation. Following the diet is important to the success of your TIF. Good luck.
