As far as which surgery it depends on a few factors. A big one is if you have a hiatal hernia and how large it is. Some of them can't be done if the hernia is to large. I just had my 3rd nissen on 8/24. My 2nd one was done because the first was done wrong and the redo was perfect for 2 years and then I had a hole in my esophagus and to repair it destroyed my redo. That is why I had the 3rd and so far all is great. Even having this one open it is a lot less painful recovery than the esophagus repair I had 3/1/11.
You also need to have all the tests done to see if you are a good candidate for any of the surgeries.

Take care,
Bill

Thanks bill, I have an appointment with my GI on the 26 of this month. I will discuss surgery options with him to see if I can be a candidate. How is the nissen overall? Can you belch with it? Does it provide relief and do you still need meds with it? Can you exercise with it? Thanks Bill

Everyonr is different, but I have been able to burp with all 3 nissens. I couldn't vomit with the first 2 and so far I have been lucky and haven't tried with my 3rd.I have gotten great relief with them and for the most part either stopped meds or cut way back. Sometimes you may get the wrap irritated by eating something that doesn't agree with you and may need some type of heart burn meds for it.
As far as exercise, once everything is healed and you get past your weight restrictions there isn't any problem exercising.

Take care,
Bill

Omg, you make me so hopeful for Nissen. How much does the procedure cost with insurance btw? Thanks
