Hello everybody,

I'm French and there is no LINX REFLUX SURGERY branche in France apparently. After a little bit of research I came across the website
which I've found very instructive so far. There are two clinics in the UK, one in Manchester, the other one is in London. Anyway...

I've been thinking for years about undergoing the Nissen surgery, but to me it's always sounded a mistake (after all the horrible stories I read on several forums). I've been having this feeling of a lump in the throat for years and it's literally driving me nuts, not be able to speak normally, to swallow and so on.

Today the linx surgery seems kind of a breakthrough compared to Nissen and the usual inefficient medication.

Could anyone having undergone this surgical intervention give some feedback to this thread cause I really am considering it and willing to travel all the way to Manchester or London just to do it.

Things I'd like to know: the price and if it's been efficient so far of course.

If you haven't realized this yet, you will learn a lot here in the GERD/Heartburn  forum. Our members are wise and wonderful, caring and supportive. I am so happy you joined HealingWell.

Here is a link to a thread that discusses Linx in detail.  It is the 3rd of 3 parts.  The links to the earlier posts are found in the below thread.  Just click on the link.

Again we are glad you joined us and hope you continue to talk with us.

yeah the lump in the throat thing is awful...i too have been living with it on and off (mostly on) for a long long time.

i read and posted here at healingwell a link several months ago about an article that discuses outcome and costs for the linx procedure in italy. i will look for the comment and it may well be in the thread that Kitt posted about in the comment above.

bottom line is, in euros the cost was cited (procedure done at a university in milano i believe) around 4000 euros, this was about one year ago.

converting to british pounds and considering that the UK has a national health care service, sounds like the cost is competitive with fundoplication and or might be even lower in cost

welcome to healingwell
best wishes

Hello and welcome to HealingWell.  I love your country and am proud to say I am 3/4 French as my Grandparents were French Canadians.  :-)
The language of choice for HealingWell is English therefore I am not sure how many will be able to read your entire post.  Also please do feel comfortable starting a thread of your own.  This is done by clicking on the 'new topic' button which will open a new thread for you to post your introduction. This will help members see your first post.  It is best to start your own 1st thread rather than attach it to an old thread that way you will get more responses.

Again, a warm welcome.
