Just to get back to you quickly, if you have even the urge to vomit the others have said before to take your anti-nausea pill RIGHT AWAY. I have NOT had the Nissen, just passing along info.

Best of luck!

Totally agree do keep on top of the anti sickness meds, and tell the doc if they dont work. I had the op in august, the nausea sucked for me but it will pass. Some people dont get it too bad though so fingers crossed for you. Rest up these first few days and remember it was worth it, this boy is temporary, even if it takes a while. Iy was and is easier for me than I had thought, just take everything easy and step at a time. Good luck!

With the nissen you may not be able to physically vomit, but you still can have nausea and dry heave. The latter is not recommended because it can cause damage to your wrap and hurt too. when you start to feel any nausea take the meds.

Please keep the anti-nausea meds close at hand.. I have heaved twice since my surgery and fortunately it did not damage my wrap, it caught me off guard and I have managed to take my meds quickly when I felt that nauseous.

Please stay with us and ask any questions you have.. Remember that nothing you ask is out of bounds, we all know that there are gas problems etc.... and there is advice that can be given concerning all areas.

confused  Well thanks agian had the heaves three times and yes it hurt, got the meds though and have not done it sense, still having a lot of pain in my shoulder, my belly feels great though. I thought maybe it is gas but not sure now. Got a call in to the dr. waiting to here back. on a better note have come to the conclusion, most every thing can be blended and made into baby food. I have kept it bland, the nurse said i can start eating a little more blended foods.

Please keep those anti-nausea meds handy.. I go no where without them.. Are you walking a lot?? That seems to be the key to wearing off the shoulder pain.. but, if you are concerned, ALWAYS take it to your doctor.. Most here find that their blender becomes their best friend after this surgery.. you can blend/puree almost everything.. Please let us know how you are doing!!

Sandi thanks for all the advice, and i do me nausea meds are a life saver. I have been walking a lot because I cant get comfortable. I was fairly active before so this is difficult for me not doing everything now. but its getting better. I seem to be doing better than was expected. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it keeps up this way!!!!!!

thanks for every thing I will let you know when I talk to the dr....
