My doc just put me on liquid diet while on 24hr PH bravo test..
The test result show almost no reflux. Is is a reliable test result?

Upper endoscopy show some erosive esophagitis..
Usually my gerd not help/not responsive by any medicine at all(nexium, prevacid & generic prilosec/omeprazole). but this time my doc prescribe me prilosec + ativan + pureed diet and somehow i am better but still a lot of symptom.

I really confuse is it really gerd(3 month off any kind ppi not giving me relief) and then now just 5 day of prilosec + ativan + pureed diet make me better? can be it is something else?

My symptom now is sore troat, white tongue, and a little chest pain sometimes

any suggestion?

Regards,
Ahn

Ahn-
I ate normal food during the 2 wired and 1 bravo PH studies I had. Were you on the liquid diet the 5 fays or just the 24 hours? I would expect expect it to be better due to the liquid diet being easier to digest. Just like when those that have surgery to help out reflux go back to liquids or very soft foods if our wrap gets irritated.
I am not sure why they had you on a liquid diet for the bravo. To me it would be similar to taking a PPI during the study. I was told not to change anything in my daily routine so they would get an accurate study, strange.

Take care,
Bill

I am not sure whether or not that is a symptom of GERD or not. I do know GERD can have some very strange symptoms. I would definitely call your doctor and ask him/her about what is going on. Have tried to eat something sugary? I get that way if my blood sugar gets too low.

Take care,
Bill

Good Morning,

Have you ever discussed dyspepsia with your Dr. as dyspepsia  can be a symptom of GERD ?

We often confuse dyspepsia with hunger because you may feel shaky, slightly nauseated or weak and eating food makes the symptoms disappear.  They go away because food stimulates the stomach to empty.  The food therefore causes the excess acid to be emptied into the small intestine and your symptoms resolve.

When the stomach doesn’t empty as readily as it should, acid accumulates making us feel uncomfortable, bloated, slightly nauseated or even a little shaky.

Just a thought and please remember I am not a Dr. so keep on working with your Drs.  I wish you peace.

Kindly,

Kitt
