Hi everyone,

I just wanted to post something I has helped me in hopes that it may help some of you with esophagitis. Brief history: I developed GERD suddenly (as in overnight) on April 29th of this year. I took Prilosec for 7 weeks, which helped while I was on it. I quit cold turkey and my symptoms returned though not as severe and manifested themselves as LPR (laryngopharyngeal reflux w/ a little bit of traditional heartburn as well). I tried the cowboy approach and did no meds for 3 months. During this time, my symptoms would wax and wane. They would be present for 24 hours a day for 2 straight weeks only to disappear without a trace for 2 weeks at a time. I had a major flare in June and got an endoscopy which showed "Grade A esophagitis". I started taking Apex Energetics Repair Vite K60 at the advice of my friend and had a scope 4 weeks later which showed a "normal esophagus" and the gastro doc said it had healed. I also noticed the burn in my throat was much less severe when it occurred. It is a powder with ingredients lice DGL, marshmallow root, aloe vera extract, MSM, etc. and you take it 1-3 times per day. You can order it online or get it in some health food stores.
Just wanted to put this out there.

Take care everyone :)

I am in the same boat as you as far as waxing and waning symptoms. Thanks for the post...did it help with your heartburn at all, or just with the apparent tissue damage?

Also, not knocking the causality you are inferring, but a few members have noted that they have had scopes showing esophagitis and others showing a normal esophagus without much difference in anything, even symptoms. I am one of those...this past year has been my worst ever but my endoscopy came back normal...my first ever endoscopy showed esophagitis.

So it might not have to do with that powder you mention. BUT, l glutamine is also supposed to help repair the esophagus, so I am taking it regardless. I think its reasonable to think that the powder helped you, but just wanted to mention it isn't a certainty.

But again thanks for the tip and I have made note of the powder should I ever feel the need to try it out :)
