Hey all, I hope everyone is well!

I was standing at my mirror doing my makeup yesterday morning, nothing strenuous. I'd been standing for about 20 minutes already and had just moved into another room. For breakfast I had eaten about 3 bites of peanut butter toast.

I started to get very hot and my vision and hearing got very fuzzy. It was very strange. I went and sat on my bed and opened the window and I felt much better.

I've always had borderline low blood pressure (usually in the 120/65 range) and sometimes I feel a little lightheaded standing up suddenly, but I'd already been standing for a while.

Has anyone else experienced this as a side effect of Nexium/GERD? This is literally the first time I've ever had an experience like this... I'm equal parts freaked out and confused.

So far, no near-syncopal episodes today! smilewinkgrin

Take care, all,

Hey Aeshley,

I have experienced this, as I have low blood pressure and anxiety. I was taught that when that feeling happens to tighten my stomach and take my hands (open palms and pump hands closed ten times as quickly as possible). I find that this is usually effective.

Are you feeling stressed out by any chance? Or is this a normal occurrence?

In any case, I hope this helps =)

im sorry you are having a tough time...not fun...miserable

it is so darn hard to figure out cause and effect so i want to say what im about to share is not proof of anything...just anecdotal information

within a month of taking PPIs and H2 (yes i was on both at the same time in the beginning so this makes it even harder to figure out) i got dizzy, felt cold intolerant, fatigued and kinda...well....disoriented?

my normal blood pressure had been 130 over 75 in the months previous, but soon after starting this PPI / H2 regimine i was having a blood pressure of 110 over 65 and then it even got as low as 105 over 55.

now keep in mind i was under a lot of pressure because at the same time no body could explain why i had undiagnosed occult hematuria, the endoscopy showed barretts metaplasia etc, and i was scared...so maybe all this was about stress

also my diet had changed radically and i had lost a lot of weight

and when i say dizzy, i dont mean like the room was spinning, it was very strange, it was more like just being light headed, like i was inhaling fumes... and my doctor kept asking me if this happened when i got up quickly...but it didnt...i would get this feeling while just standing, and having been standing for awhile, or just walking slowly! in fact when i would walk fast or jog it did not get worse!!

when i stopped taking PPIs and H2s it took a long time for this feeling to go away but it did subside...months later

so many other things were going on at the same time that i was never able to "prove" to myself what was the cause.

its noteworthy that around the same time i had been taking a lot ( a lot!) of a popular otc antacid that has aluminum hydroxide and magnesium carbonate in it.

could this have been part of the cause...i dont know...there is so much i dont know

please stay in touch and let us know how you are doing...we care

hang in there

Mock, my friend, thanks for the insight. I do have the same sensation, that I'm inhaling fumes or something... crazy huh?

Faith, thanks for your sweet message. I am going through a lot of changes right now (getting used to nursing school, etc, etc) but it's crazy, I don't actually FEEL anxious when I stop and think about it. I know I have a lot of stressors right now, but they seem to only affect me unconsciously. How frustrating! Hopefully it goes away soon.

Thank you both for the kind words. I hope you're both feeling well, too :)
