Is the itchy feeling inside esophagus indicates that it's healing or getting worse?

I am still struggling to contain the aftermath of my last flare-up (before that I had been symptom-free for about 3 weeks). Things did improve alot. But I had a nasty reflux episode last night. It was reflux I failed to clear because I was sleeping. I had some irritation in the morning that quickly subsided after I took some prokinetic drug (which helps to constrict the LES). What remains is the terrible itchiness. I feel like I want to scratch my chest all the time.

Just want to know what are the indicators that a esophagitis is slowly healing or getting worse.

Another question - how often do you get scoped to check the healing progress? once in 3 months?
