Thanks

It's day 12 and pain is all gone and on nexium. Only concern I have is when I eat(soup) it seems like I have to burp because the pressure is at the back of my throat. I know it takes time to heal but just wanted to know if anyone else had that happen around this time period and did it go away later.

Hi, Steve. I had my TIF 7-1/2 weeks ago. My recovery was about the same. I had a very bad sore throat which lasted a few days, then gradually subsided. By week 2 it was still a little hard to swallow, but this gradually disappeared. I burped also and still burp once in a while, but my doctor told me it was OK to burp because the TIF is a little looser than the nissen. Hang in there. You will feel better.

Almost to week 8 and I feel great.

Keep positive. Keep in touch and let us know how you are doing. You are not alone.

Hey Steve,

Do you have GERD or LPR? I know it's still early, but are you experiencing any relief from your symptoms yet?

Hi faith
I have gerd.I've had reflux for 11 years and finally wanted to see if I could get off the Meds. I'm day 13 and still feel a little reflux. I'm still on liquid diet and still healing. I'm taking nexium for another week or so and then I guess I get off. At that time I will know if this surgery worked. Do you have reflux also?

Hey Steve,

I have LPR reflux, but also belch quite a bit so I'm not sure if this is a gerd symptom. I definitely want to consider the TIF but have to undergo more testing first. How long did the doc say it will take to heal?

I've read a lot of threads and it depends on the person I think. Some people have taken 5 weeks and others 8. Because of swelling I think you can still get some feeling of reflux. Have you had a manomatry or ph test (bravo). There the two tests I had to determine how bad my reflux was. I don't know if your local I'm in PA if you are I could give you the name of the doctors I've seen. At this point of my recovery I guess I'm looking at this surgery as it works or it doesn't. I took a chance and hope it does. I will keep posting and let people know how I'm doing. Lastly over the years while I was on nexium and other ppi's I didn't Belch to much. Look into it and talk to some doctors

I haven't had either of those tests done yet, but need to do them soon. I'm in NYC so not too far away. You're still early into your recovery, and I hope you will continue to improve with every day that passes. As far as the belching is concerned, I am H. Pylori positive and wonder if that may be behind it, but am not sure. Could you belch with the TIF?

As for the docs if you go online you can find one in NYC. Just google tif surgery and the site will come up. I do have some burping but try to keep it to a minimum.
