When my reflux escalated to the "next stage" in May of '10, I had such a lump.  (The medical term is Cricopharyngeus Spasm.)  It was continuous, and lasted until October '10 when I tried my first course of PPI treatment with omeprazole.  I could only stand the omeprazole for 14 days because of massive headache, but the spasm finally disappeared.
Now one of my persistent LPR symptoms is general dysphagia, similar, but not quite as uncomfortable.
If you've already been diagnosed with GERD, then the presence of the spasm you noted is an important clue to indicate that you also may have LPR.  This has relevance in diagnosis, and possible treatment options and expectations.

Yes the headache i encountered with Omeprazole as well but it went away eventually, however i get this spooky neurological problems on me all the time since i had Shingles back on 2006, my head feels like it will explode after 3-4 days of either H2 or PPI so i have to stop, i can't get it what makes it turn on so bad.

I told my doctor about it and she said have you tried Nexium, i told her no, i used it sometimes she said as i have some problems that come and go, it can last for 2-3 days she told me.

Ok, i tried it for 4 days, yes it's good for taking care if symtoms, but the side-effects are horrible for me, as my nerves gets all freaky and the head thing start slowly until i can't take anymore.

I wish i could have taken Nexium for 4-6 weeks maybe i could have gone thru this living hell i have now.
