Hey guys, recently my 40 MG Nexium has been giving me horrible anxietyand I'm not gonna lie.....honestly it scares the hell outta me, excuse my language please. Can anyone make some suggestions on medications that might pack the same punch as the Nexium? Currently I've tried Zantac,Prevacid 24 HR and Aciphex. They all worked for a week and stopped. Btw, my GERD doesn't really give me acid in the mouth thing. I mainly get severe chest pain, I can feel it refluxing. I'm on Levsin as well and it just stopped helping like a day ago. Thanks guys! Oh and vitamin/supplement suggestions are welcomed as well!!!

we are on the same boat, sigh, makes me hate all these PPI and GERD.
please discuss with your doc, as we aren't supposed to provide medicine suggestion here.

Hi GuitarsandCars, WJF is right - we can share our experiences but only a doctor can tell you what to take. If you're struggling you need to keep knocking on their door until they come up with a better drug combo. Combining a ppi with Zantac is one option, and Zantac can be prescribed high dose. Did Zantac give you anxiety too?

I also have pain (and nausea) rather than actual high up in the mouth reflux and one of the moderators recommended Carafate - is that something you've tried? If not, ask your doc about that too. I have no experience of using it as it's not prescribed in the UK (not for any particular reason - just went out of fashion here!).

Have you been offered surgery - may be it would give you some peace of mind to know what your fall back position is if your medication can't be sorted.

If you haven't yet seen a specialist then that's what I would ask for next - they may have more options for you medication wise than your PCP/GP.

Keep at it - these things can take quite a bit of perseverance to sort out!

PS: some members are helped by different dietary approaches, e.g. Low pH diet, specific carbohydrate diet, vegan diet etc. There may be some winning formula out there for you, by combining a different diet with a lower dose ppi - something else for you to think about.
