Hi GuitarsandCars, WJF is right - we can share our experiences but only a doctor can tell you what to take. If you're struggling you need to keep knocking on their door until they come up with a better drug combo. Combining a ppi with Zantac is one option, and Zantac can be prescribed high dose. Did Zantac give you anxiety too?
I also have pain (and nausea) rather than actual high up in the mouth reflux and one of the moderators recommended Carafate - is that something you've tried? If not, ask your doc about
that too. I have no experience of using it as it's not prescribed in the UK (not for any particular reason - just went out of fashion here!).
Have you been offered surgery - may be it would give you some peace of mind to know what your fall back position is if your medication can't be sorted.
If you haven't yet seen a specialist then that's what I would ask for next - they may have more options for you medication wise than your PCP/GP.
Keep at it - these things can take quite a bit of perseverance to sort out!
New stuff: GERD. Interstitial Cystitis
Lifelong stuff: Food allergies, eczema, asthma
