I'm going in for an upper endoscopy soon to explore why I might be having terrible chest pain. In the past I had gastritis but I didn't even notice much pain from that.

The chest pain is insane. It feels as though I'm having a heart attack and my chest is exploding. Sometimes the pain is scratching, sometimes it's crampy, sometimes stabby. I want to pound on my chest hard and sometimes I do. I start to breathe heavily. I am not if it's because of shortness of breath or because I'm just in so much pain.

How do I know this is related to heart burn/gastric stuff rather than my HEART? I'm kind of concerned. Also if I have inflammation like gastritis, how do I know it is not a more widespread problem? I tend to get hives, have crohn's disease and joint pain. All inflammation related. I am hoping my doctor can answer this for me.

Hi Meowese,
I wish I could help you...the only thing that comes to mind is an ulcer.  I would imagine if you've had gastritis enough it's possible to develop one.  I surely hope you find an answer very soon!
Sorry you're struggling so!
