I was diagnosed with Crohns disease 6 months ago, and usually spend my time on that forum. I had a Colonoscopy / Endoscopy done at that time which showed the damage. I also had ulcers in my duodenum. But at the time they did not mention anything about GERD. When I was started on Prednisone I was also started on Prilosec to help with any stomach irritation. I had some issues early on with intense burning and pain in my chest but it went away, and I've had several EKGs, stress tests, echocardiograms to rule out heart problems.
Lately my symptoms seem to be flaring up again, or it could be crohns, I've been under a lot of stress and anxiety lately and I know that doesn't help. I've also been fairly inactive since my diagnosis... and my GI says that can contribute to muscoloskeletal pain. But this is what I've been experiencing.
Pain behind my sternum, or radiating across my upper chest, throat, neck, between my shoulder blades, and occasionally a pain in a specific spot on my upper left chest near my shoulder. Sometimes I have a lot of belching, sometimes it helps when I lean forward and burp sometimes it doesnt. Occasionally I'll feel the acid in the throat thing but not often. No trouble swallowing.
With all I have going on it's hard to know if its stress, crohns, heartburn. I'm going to my GI again on Tuesday to talk to him about it. The pain isnt as bad as it was a week or so ago, but with my anxiety anything new or out of the ordinary convinces me that its serious.

Ish, good you are seeing a GI doc. Sub-sternum pain that isn't heart can be a hiatal hernia. Mine is.

After I eat I can feel my stomach come up and the pain starts. It doesn't do it on tests because my stomach is empty, so they don't believe me, although reflux shows on barium swallows because the ingredients contain sweeteners and flavors that are some of my reflux triggers.

Keeping a food journal helps track if you have specific food, drink or medicines triggering your reflux. There are lots of threads on this. You can find them by putting some keywords in the search box at the top of the page.
