I believe I may have messed up my nissen fundoplication wrap which was done back in 2008, I was doing a set of preacher curls at the gym leaning up against a pad which put pressure on my chest. That night I had severe esphogeal spasms, and woke up with that familiar feeling of severe heartburn and a hoarse throat, and have been having the same issues for the past week (although not as severe as before the 1st fundoplication), hoarse throat, bad gerd symptoms, loss of appetite, chest pain.

I believe my wrap has loosened or came undone, I'm due to get a barium swallow next week...but I know thats not as accurate as an endoscopy and probably can detect a loose wrap. I'm pretty sure Ill have to get a nissen redo I'm not positive yet, anybody have any thoughts on this or what happens with a Nissen redo, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cmac,

Hello and welcome ot HealingWell.  I am sorry to read of your issues but I would kindly advice you to wait to hear the results of your tests and see what your surgeon has to say before you worry about a redo.

Here is a link to a thread re redos and as you can see it is not uncommon so if you do need a redo the members here will have lots of input for you.

Lastly we are glad that you found us. You will find us to be a very diverse, knowledgeable and compassionate forum.

Kindly,

Kitt
