My doctor has asked me to try Somac (Pantoprazole) 40mg/day instead of Nexium 40mg/day.

Has anyone had any adverse effects from switching PPI's? Any tips for me?

Thanks all,
Ashley

Hi Ashley,
I've switched from Prilosec to Nexium to Protonix with no weaning/increasing at all.  One works the same as the other, and I don't think you'll notice any adverse effects.
Good luck!  I hope it works well for you.
It's always great to find a cheaper drug!
Take care,
Denise

AshleyRose

when i was "on" PPIs i played around a lot. by that i mean i changed dosages , went on and off...changed PPIs three different times and personally never really noticed a difference in terms of efficacy and i got headaches and dizziness from them all...yuk

dosage seemed to be the trick, 20 mg if omeprazole isnt the same as 20mg of pantoprazole and the rest

what i do recall of significance is my doctor telling me is that some PPIs are absorbed differently so the issue of when one eats compared with when one takes their meds changes in some cases

hope you are doing ok... for me winter is not kind when it comes to the circle of reflux symptoms and reflux control

best wishes to you as you adjust your meds
