Ok, hear me out.

A lot of times when I am having heartburn, I'll make a movement and then feel the heartburn more accentuated. I'll then repeatedly do the movement to check, and sure enough I'll recreate the heartburn feeling each time.

As an example, I just took a shower and at one point lifted my left arm down and back or something. I noticed it gave me the heartburn pain, and so I did it a few times in the next few seconds to 'check' and sure enough it gave me heartburn each time I did it.

It makes me think it would be muscular, but this only happens when I am already having a bit of on and off heartburn (for 10 minutes or a few hours or what-not). If I am having a period with no heartburn, I'll never get the accentuated feeling at all. In other words, I must already be having a bit of on and off heartburn for this to work.

Its happened enough times for me to finally want to ask others if this has happened to them to. I don't know why it would work this way, but it is definitely something I have noticed.

Anyone else?

Even right now, if I just roll me left shoulder back, I can create a light sensation of the heartburn that I always feel.

I guess it's possible if some of the soft tissues inside are sore, then you become more aware of them with movement?

New stuff: GERD. Interstitial Cystitis

That makes sense. This is another one of those odd things...like the breathing in the feeling mint or spearmint type coolness that I posted about before. But a lot of people identified with that right away, yet nobody yet with this one. I'll probably mention it offhand to my GI next time just out of curiosity. It makes it feel muscular even though I know it isn't.

i get something similar...similar in that i can either add to existing heartburn as you have spoken, or start it up from scratch!

usually movement of my torso rather than just an arm brings it on...but

my guess is that any move that compresses or expands the lungs by flexing the diaphragm exerts pressure on the stomach and if the LES isnt tight at that moment then stuff squirts out?

also stretching or compresssing the esophagus that is in pain already can accentuate that pain?

or what ever the mechanism, yeah i get get movement induced reflux related pain"i fel your pain"

hang in there
