I just wanted to let you know that I have been doing better the past few days! Last night (Wednesday), I had to go to a potluck supper and was worried about what I could eat. I was very good, didn't have an alcohol or coffee, avoided the spicy food and anything that looked like it would make me feel sick, (including a very yummy looking lasagna! I heard tomatoes were bad and I didn't want to test if they were bad for me if I wasn't home) and didn't overeat. I brought a bottle of Tums with me and only had to eat two. The desserts didn't seem to have a bad effect on me, which is good. I'm glad I don't have to give up chocolate! :P. I also made sure to spend more time standing than sitting after eating.

Today was even better. I even had some popcorn at a movie with little problems. There was some, but again, I had my Tums with me and that helped. Other than my Nexium and the Tums with popcorn, I only had to take one spoonful of Gaviscon after supper.

So, it looks like things are finally turning around and my Nexium is finally starting to work! I do wonder though, when would be a good time to start phasing back things I like, like coffee. I have been finding myself sleeping more since I don't have it. I'm a little afraid to try bananas again since they were a bigger problem.

I'm also glad that, now since I can actually eat without getting reflux (before it was just about anything I put in my mouth!), I can start figuring out what exactly causes my acid reflux.

Amy

Awesome to read that you are doing better.  What a nice update and glad to know you are able to enjoy life again.

For now I would continue doing what you are doing as long as it has worked and not worry about when to start weaning from the medication. Keep trying foods slowly and you will make it to the point where you and your Dr. can talk about decreasing your medications.

Happy New Year to you.

Kindly,

Kitt

Thank you Kitt!

I know that I have to continue with the medication until it's all gone, so that's another two weeks. I have to see him after that if the symptoms flare up again so I can be put on something more regular.
