Hi all,

Now and then I think of some odd symptom that I have and share it in the hopes of finding out if it is related to my GERD.

I realized that I am able to crack my chest...usually by pulling my arms out and backwards and stretching it out. I can usually feel when I want to crack it, and it cracks easily.

It just occurred to me...this probably happened around when my GERD started, as I don't remember being able to do it before then. Has anyone else noticed they can do this?

Probably not worth bringing up to the dr., for whom I probably ask more questions than anyone as is, so I am just curious among us to see if this is something anyone else has noticed...

I will stop calling you ARM now :)

My husband and his brother can both do this. I used to think they were nuts for telling me they could pop their breastbones, but there you go!

Neither of them have reflux.

Hope you're well,

Ok, so I guess its not reflux related. Hope all is well with you. I am bouncing between pessimism and optimism, gonna try the Koufmann diet once again starting next week.

Hey, I have the same cracking in my sternum, almost identical to how you explain it. I have been having numerous digestive issues the last half year as well. The funny thing is I have always believe the two are related, because the cracking started just before my digestive problems.. That being said one of my issues is GERD, OR so my doctor says, I have never been formally tested. Along with GERD there are an array of other issues, like a constant (and when I say constant III mean CONSTANT (very annoying)) bubbles or something moving around my whole digestive track, or so that is what it feels like. Inconsistent stool, but whether it be constipation or its opposite, always a noticeable amount of mucus. On top of that, all the usual GERD symptoms on crack, regurgitation of acidy tasting nonsense, which brings me to why I believe my sternum (might) be related. It kind of feels like the food I eat is having difficulty getting to my stomach, and from there having trouble as well. Those are most of symptoms, and the doctors have no clue what is wrong with me, so in hopes of finding someone with problems similar to me I have decided to come to one of these forums. This feeling of gas, GERD, and sternum issues after almost eight months are simply getting annoying, frustrating, and they are starting to affect my life..

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
The guy with a lot of issues

That is just a release of gasses where the ribs connect. Basically the same as cracking other joints in your body.
I used to do it before my 1st at bat during practice or games. Not sure if I can do that anymore or not. Haven't tried it in a long time.

Take care,
