Hi guys, about a year ago I started getting bad stomach pain and bad reflux. I went on PPIs and was able to control it, but then in August the pain in my stomach and reflux was out of control and PPIs helped a little but not enough. I had an endoscopy that showed a small hiatal hernia and possible gastritis. The biopsy was negative for pylori. I have gallbladder disease in my family on my mothers side and have pain in my stomach and under ribs, but rarely on right side. I also go from diarrhea, to constipation and back again. as well bad back pain under shoulder blades. Just had the HIDA scan and it shows that my gallbladder is functioning at 15% with no stones. Not sure if I should have gallbladder removed. I would hate to have it removed and still have the bad reflux and stomach pain.
Anyone had good luck with gallbladder removal?
Do you think my symptoms could all come from a poor functioning gallbladder?
Thanks
Paul

Paul,

Gall bladder function is measured in terms of percentage of ejection and fraction. If the percentage of this contraction is less than 35% then the gall bladder is said to have impaired function. So more than 35% contraction is considered as normal.

As you are having symptoms of gallbladder disease I would suspect your Dr. would recommend the removal of your gallbladder.  I had mine removed many years ago and it cured the nagging pain that was with me throughout the day/night especially after meals.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Kindly,
Kitt
