Well I had surgery on the 29 and I just saw the Dr. and he said that I can eat what I want. I have had a successful TIF......  I am so happy. I need to eat small amounts, but I can eat what I want. I have to go back the Dr in a month to tell him if i have any issues with any food. Other than that I am fine.

Feisty .. that's great news! Congratulations!

Can you remind me ..
- Did you have *only* heartburn symptoms - and no sour/bitter taste in mouth, throat symptoms at all?

- How long have you had the heartburn symptoms? Were you able to take any medications (PPIs/H2s) to keep the symptoms away?

- Did your insurance cover all/some part of the surgery? If not, how much did it end up costing you?

- I remember you saying that your surgeon had not done many TIFs - however, you still used him/her. However, was it because you did not want to drive/travel much?

Feisty - That is good to hear. I had a TIF in April and it is nice to expand the diet and give up the expensive Nexium.

I had heartburn!!!! The acid made my voice raspy and my teeth were sore from acid erosion. I had to sleep on a wedge or in my recliner to get some sleep. I was constantly feeling bad.

I had heartburn symptoms after my first foot surgery in June of 2011. None of the PPI's worked for me. I have a medicine cabinet of PPI's that are now useless to me. I also lost about 35 to 40 lbs. I was eating farina, eggs and mashed potato's. I would eat meat and I would get acid about 10 minutes after I ate. I tried natural remedies-honey and delicious apples which didn't work. I tried the apple cider vineager and that did not work either. I was at a loss.

I also took supplements that did help, but it was hard to remember to take them.

My surgery is covered in full because I had met my deductible and I had pre cert done to make sure it was covered.

My surgeon had input in to the instrument that they use for the surgery (he sold his inventing rights to the company that makes the scope that performs the TIF). I also choose him because he is known Dr. in Hawaii.

In WI I was not given the option of fixing my Acid Reflux issue all the Dr's wanted to do was to push the pills which didn't work for me. There were only 19 Dr's in WI that do the TIF and my Dr did not preform the TIF. I did not learn of the TIF until I go to Hawaii and what better place to recover.

I really had no choice...I want to eat and feel good again.
