Hi all and a Happy New Year!!

Some of you may know I stopped taking ppi's a few months ago and I'm going pretty good without them. I decided today I really wanted a nice cold fizzy drink ( I've had flu for a few days and my throat is sore as hell) so took the plunge and drank a can......it was great!!! No reflux or any side effects. I have been seeing a Gastro doc these past few months and we're now entertaining the idea I may have low stomach acid which apparently has all the same side effects as high acid???? I'm being put forward for PH testing and manomentry to put an end to this enigma. What I don't understand is why it has taken 9 months for them to put me forward for this testing, when it could have been done at the start???

Never understand Doc's logic.

I have also been free from PPIs in almost 1 month and can handle it pretty well, it has stabilised, some mornings i can have a very soar throat and need to cough up mucus to clear the throat, the gastritis is very mild now, some days it's gone and some days i can feel a little, complete change from earlier i can say.

Two days ago i ate Gingerbread, i bought a whole box in the supermarket as they had it on sale now after xmas, i wanted to try it and was so sad being on my diet now for almost 6 months i wanted some change.

Stupid enough i ate almost everything and had terrible cramps in my stomach but i got terrible rebound of acid coming in my throat the following night, the day after i recovered and went to toilet 4 times to get it out but i learned a lesson not to jump into these things and eat less, but it was so good tasting after this long time that i couldn't help myself stop eating it.

I feel fine now, but i will think twice next time.
