Hey guys I'm having a lot of trouble here I had hiatal hernia surgery 3 years ago and the difference was night and day. However, recently I believe it has came loose the endoscopy came up negative so did the barium swall, however I did have esphoghits again...so I dont know why they say its negative.

I know it's not working like it use to when it was in tact I could feel it, it was very tight which was good, I couldnt burp barely which was another indication it was there. Recently all that has changed the acid is back in full effect, I can burp very freely, I don't have that firm feeling in my chest or the spasms that very rarely came. However, I dont Know how to explain this to my dr I'm very symptomatic which tons of pain, but the endoscopy only reveals it being slightly loose.

I'm getting jerked around and I know I need another surgery, to correct this again. Hell I can't even run a mile without almost kieling over because it hurts so bad, I just don't know how to collect enough evidence for my surgeon he says the esphoghits isnt enough. These are the same doctors that 1st said when I had the hiatal hernia that it was causing my symptoms. They were WRONG before and they are WRONG now. What the heck do i do here.

You know your own body, don't let them fob you off.

I would make another appointment. Write down everything you have written here, and if you don't get anywhere, ask for a second opinion, which we are all entitled to.

I find many in the medical profession to be very poor communicators and listeners. You need to keep knocking, this is effecting your quality of life.

Good luck.

When you say you had HH surgery...do you mean you had the fundoplication and they fixed your HH? If you think the fundoplication is loose ask for an esophagram or upper GI...it will show the status of the wrap. It could be that your HH is back and the wrap is oK.

few of the tests are 100%

after barium swallow i was told all looks good and no sign of hernia

then...after esophagoscopy was told i had an averaged sized hiatal hernia

as for getting surgery... its so frustrating, the docs have so many hurdles one must pass over to qualify...i get dizzy

i agree with zeldagoblin,,,ya gotta keep knocking

ive got lpr and get gerd symptoms with barretts and get this y doc says oh well your symptoms are being well controlled by H2s (cant take PPIs cause of side effects)..."well controlled" i suffer and my docs know it but are not willing to authorize surgery for what they believe are good reasons

hey i know the score it will be a cold day in hades before i get approved for jack-dookey

but im old and have issues

you should keep trying

best wishes
