Has your diet returned to normal after nissen?

Portion size, appetite, etc?

Hi Maximus,
Yes.  Totally normal.  I enjoy eating whatever I want, actually have to consciously control my intake to avoid gaining too much weight.  I was hoping that the surgery would always make me feel fuller, so it would be easy to keep weight off.  No such luck!  I still have to work at it.

Hi Max

I had my nissen 7 months ago. My appetite and the foods I eat have returned to normal (I can eat everything I used too without any problems) but if I eat to much I get pain and nausea so portion size is something that I am always very aware of. I bought myself a set of small plates & use these instead of large dinner plates so I am not tempted to dish up to much food.

Today I took my two grandsons out for the day and we had lunch at McDonalds followed by a movie. I ordered a burger, a small fries & soda. I could only manage 1/2 of this before I knew it was time to stop or I would be feeling the consequences where as before surgery I would have up-sized the order & eaten it all.

Maybe this will change as my recovery progresses but for now I am happy to take it slowly because I dont want to end up suffering.

Take care

I am 9 weeks out and can eat anything and everything. I really need to watch it as I have been steadily gaining all of the weight back I've lost. Its just nice that I can now eat anything with no consequences unlike before.

Yep, me too. I can eat whatever I want. I do pay for it if I over eat though. Feel like crud for a day or so.
