Alexis-

Are you still using the pain meds? If you are they can cause some dizziness also mat just be from the diet we have to use early on. I did experience this with my 1st redo, but I had so many things going onwith complications I am not sure what caused it.

Take care,
Bill

Thanks Bill, no I have only taken pain meds for the first two days after I came home. I really apperciate the help. I wanted to try and eat some food I had a piece of meat and gravey and went down well I was really surprised but I cut into a million small pieces so it would not get stuck. I am just going to take this really slow cause I don't want any problems with swallowing. Thanks Alexis

Hi, Alexis-

I've read that it can take up to 2 weeks to get the general anesthesia out of your system (for a 3 hour surgery). Everyone reacts differently but maybe you are having a reaction to that. My brother in law is dizzy and out of it for a week after general anesthesia.

Try to be patient with your diet. It will go by fast. In the mean time, take small bites and chew well. It sounds like if you can eat meat you'll be okay with most food. Try lasagna or a casserole. I was able to eat everything by 4 weeks post op. Your experience may not be the same... but maybe it will.

Good luck!

I have been drinking lots of V8 juice to help with trying to get the vegetables in my body.I can't believe how the juice make your body feel its amazing I still can't believe I actually ate a piece of boneless chicken breast without no problem and have been eating some fruit lastnight had some peaches from a can and some ripe pears today for lunch. Tonight I think I might be having another piece of my chicken I felt soo good after I ate it lastnight. Hope everyone has a great day Thanks again Alexis

Lex-

I found that if I ate more proteins or complex carbs I had less dizziness. I think I was getting sugar crashes when I ate just fruits, except for apples with the skin on.
If you like fish, that is a good early food to try. Be cautious with chicken as it can pile up at the wrap sometimes and get stuck. I had great luck with it if I remembered to take about 30 seconds between bites. Also you can probably eat ground meats. I was avle to eat this by the 2 week mark.

Are you feeling better about having this surgery now?

Take care,
Bill

I was just wondering if anyone here has had a 280 wrap done, my man has a hital hernia and is wanting to have a 280 wrap done because he has read a lot of horror stories about people having excessive gas, cramps, and inablity to burp after the 360. He's also wondering how the acid reflux is after the 280 since it is a looser wrap...  If anyone here has had this surgrey please let us know how how the recouperation was, and how you are doing now...

Much appreciation.. Thanks Alexis

I had the full 360, but it seems that if you are a good candidate and have a good surgeon, you won't need to worry much about the gas related problems. Lots of people get them temporarily (I did for a couple of weeks) but they don't last long. I think that was more of a problem in the past. Lots of Nissen burpers on here. :)

As for when to eat, if your doctor thinks you should try after a week, I say go for it. You can always backtrack if it doesn't work out as well. Its always good to keep challenging your diet to make progress. Glad to hear you are doing well!

Lexipoo,

Wow, you both will be NFs ;) You are going through this experience and will be able to help him with it which I think is good. I wish you both successful NFs.

Max he is scared he has not even gone for the endoscopy cause he does not want it down his throat or the Ph test I had them all plus I had the Nissen fundplication 360 on jan 11th 2012. It has been a struggle but I am just fighting to get through a recovery and so I heal well with no complicatipns from the surgrey. But My GI doc told me yesterday that my surgrey was very succesful and it went well. Going back to see him on feb 24th @11am. I have been out of surgrey 3 weeks this thursday and soon I will be able to eat everything again Thank Gosh I have been so dizzy from not having bread and other things to fill me up where I don't feel bad. Hope all Goes well for you on feb 6th.

Lexipoo, you might be having a blood sugar problem. Try to have more protein based foods and less sugar. Sugar free jello, broth, noodle soup, egg drop soup
Those veggie drinks are loaded with sugar.

Hi Alexis,
Take it easy with raw veggies.  They can be very irritating to your wrap.  I'd recommend going with cooked vegetables...and even those should be cooked until they are soft.  Try the slow cooker...put some beef or chicken, carrots, potatoes, celery and whatever else you like, add about a cup of water, season, and cook it for 10-12 hours on low.  It'll taste delicious, and be very soft and easy to chew and swallow.

An acquaintance who'd had the surgery two years before me told me that it was a good way to get nutrition during the healing stage.  I did it and found it a wonderful meal, tasty and very easy to handle.

Best wishes,
Denise

Lex-

Be careful with soft bread and steak for a while. Now toast usually goes down well as it can be chewed to a liquid. I second what Denise said about raw veggies. they can cause gas. When you decide to add more normal food add one thing at a time and go slow.
At about the 8 week mark I could eat about anything I wanted to.

Take care,
Bill
