How are you all feeling? I was wondering if there is anyone out there with LPR who is healing well? I went through a pretty rough flare-up back in July that lasted 6 months. Now, I am feeling much better but am definitely having a bit of a PTSD episode.

Is anyone's LPR in remission?

I have no more cough, throat clearing, globus, or thick saliva. However, I still belch quite frequently and have an occasional mild burning sensation at the very back and top of my throat.

Hey Mock,

I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. Even though my throat appears to have healed somewhat, I don't think my mind can.

It's really interesting how with LPR everyone has such different symptoms, whereas GERD primarily refers to heartburn. I wonder why this is?

May I ask how long your throat has hurt? Is this your only symptom? If so, has it gotten any better? If not, what other symptoms did you have and did they go away?

I hope you feel better soon

I'm doing very well since starting the Koufman diet. Coughing is gone, throat clearing is rare, I'm back singing in the choir instead of listening to my husband saying, WHAAT? Nexium is down to 40 Mg from 80. My stomach continues to feel a little off, no specific pains.

Hey Sunbeam,

That's great, so happy to hear that you're feeling better. I also knocked my 60 mg dose of prevacid to 30 mg and have been on this dose for over a month. I was feeling great until I was hit with my second URI this year. I had a pretty bad cough and am still waiting for that to clear up but overall, I am doing much better too.

I posted this question in hopes of encouraging other LPR sufferers, because I believe the throat can heal over time.

faith you asked

my throat has hurt since my gerd turned into LPR about 18 months ago and more than half the days of the week i feel upper throat pain near the "adams apple"

i experience side effects of dizziness and nausea and abdominal pain which may be from reflux and / or the PPIs and otc antacids when i use them

its hard to separate the cause from the source of these "side effects"

best wishes

Faith,

It's been a rollercoaster ride for me as far as LPR/GERD goes. It initially started subtle....then symtoms came strong....then subsided a bit. But I'm due for NF to try and improve my condition. I'll let you know in several weeks how everything goes.
