Hi my name is Teri and I'm from the Allergy and Cardiac Forum, some of ya'll may know me from there.

Though, I do have other health problems~They encompass having a hiatal hernia and GERD with Barrett's esophagus and mild dysplasia.  The dysplasia indicates that you have to go in yearly for an endoscopy for them to take biopsies to make sure it hasn't progressed to cancer.  And since both my parents had cancer and I lost my Mom very recently to that Cancer, I have to admit that I was worried.  I had another endoscopy done again this year a couple of months ago and I wanted to share the news that my dysplasia is gone!  It's just not there any more. yeah The Dr. told me that this happens occasionally.

I wanted to let you all know, that I did follow a diet and took my medications and stopped caffeine, and many other stomach irritants, so I did my part, too. :)  But I thought it was worthwhile sharing my story to let you know that there is hope~always.

Best Wishes to you all and Big Hugs, Teri tongue

Teri16 - Good for you!  Could you please share some of the highlights of your diet besides no caffeine and also your medication?

Well, I'm a cardiac patient, along with being diabetic and a bunch of other things tossed in...so I really take my diet seriously and don't follow any fad diets, but I believe in fruits and veggies, along with taking note of what seems to bring on especially bad nighttime attacks of GERD, and then refraining from it.  I don't eat a lot of meat, but do eat fish and chicken-don't get me wrong, I do enjoy cheating every now and again  tongue but I really try and keep my diet healthy!

I've tried most all of the med.'s and have found a combo of Ranitidine and Aciphex for now are being quite helpful as well.

Prevacid helped me for several months, but as I'm told that most of these med.'s were made to be taken for a short while, not a lifetime... and so, I've moved on to new ones.

Hope this helps a bit?  I do drink lots of water and basically not much other types of liquid, except an occasional diet white soda.
