On Feb.13th I had my yearly checkup with my gastro dr.I told him about my concern about long term use of ppi'sand the side effects I felt I was getting from taking these meds,I also mentioned surgery,he said there are no side effects from taking ppi's,so I asked him if I could try h2 blockers and he said to just go get some over the counter zantac as he was trying too rush me out of the exam room,I could tell he was a little upset and wanted me out of there,so I didn't set up an appointment for next year,I will go elsewhere.what a waste of time and money.

That really sucks, shows how much much he cares. In general drs are trained to be brief, get a list of your symptoms and provide you medication.

They never ask you about diet. They are never interested in finding a root cause. (there will be some who are though).

I've experienced Md's and Naturopathic drs and boy I can tell you, there is a difference in their demeanor. I am not saying every Md is bad but there is a handful who are trained too much like robots.

I am sure if you want to continue seeing MD you will find one.

I agree, it is time for a new GI physician.  Sometimes we just new a new medical perspective on our current treatment plan.  Do be your own best advocate.

Thanks for the replies,I guess the reason I posted this is so others that have  a dr. like this have options and shouldn't put up with it,our health is too important.
