I had my manometry this morning and now I am undergoing a ph study. I can't believe I survived the former procedure, and did not gag, choke, etc. I am counting the hours down until the morning when they can pull this thing out. When I swallow, it feels pretty uncomfortable on the left side and I feel as though my nose and esophagus tug on the wire but somehow, I'm hanging in there.

Dr. Kaufman also has me doing an emg test tomorrow. Has anyone done this?

Thanks for listening,

No but it sounds rough. What hospital are you at? I once had to have a ct entercolysis to locate scarred small bowel loops that were giving me ongoing small bowel obstructions and it was an ng tube that they then put a wire down to guide it out into my small intestine, then they pulled the wire out and put contrast into the small intestine via the ng tube. This showed two loops of small bowel that were narrowed from adhesions from a GYN surgery. They asked how I stayed so still and I said I was determined to find the cause (i'd not been able to eat for 7 months). WIth those results I finally found a colorectal surgeon who cut the adhesions off my small bowel and made me an ileostomy stoma as my colon and pelvic floor had been totally scarred and wrecked in the GYN surgery, so this is how I saved my life. BUT I sure hope I never have to do that test again. Yours sounds like you have to have this probe like thing down your throat 24 hours? auuugh! good luck. Prayers. Rosemary

I have had the EMG a couple times. If it's the same as I had it's to test nerve function.

Take care,

It's the same test. Was this test very painful/uncomfortable?
Feel Good,
