Hi Guys,

I have been referred to a gastric surgeon!! It looks like I will need to undergo this type of surgery!! All the posts on here are very negative!! Why have the surgery?

Is there anyone out there who has had positive results from this surgery???

Thanks!!

Oh a big thank you to Northern Joe for all his help over the last months!! Im sure I would feel much worse without his words of wisdom!!

I had the operation two weeks ago and all is going great.  No reflux, I can burp so no bloating and I can eat what I want.  I have to eat a little slower though, that's the only noticeable drawback.  I'm back at work and I've started gentle exercises with no problem!  I still have minor shoulder pain (they pump your stomach full of air b4 the op and this is a side effect of that,) but I'm sure that will pass very soon.

So far I can only report postive.  BTW, I had a partial 180 wrap and not the full wrap that is most popular in the USA (I'm in the UK.)  The partial wrap is much less prone for uncomfortable post op side effects and is nearly as successful in sending reflux packing!

Hi,

I had the surgery last Feb and I have done fine with mine. No problems so far. It took about 6 weeks to be able to eat like I wanted too, so I lost some weight, which is a good thing for me.

I have no more acid reflux or gerd. To me it was well worth it. I hope it goes smoothe for you and I wish you a speedy recovery. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi

though I am new to this forum but a very old patient of GERD. Always believed that doctors was born to a patient. as far I can think you can go ahead only if you have exhausted all other options. try Homeopathy for example.

Good Luck

Mom46, did you have a full wrap or a partial? Did you suffer any gas/bloat?

Hi Lady,

I had the full wrap and I did have some gas and bloating, but it wasn't bad. The staples were the worse part of it for me cause they pull so bad until they are taken out.
