Ok I have panic attacks and was diagnosed gerd, but i have been getting some strange symtoms, like squeezing pain in my upper abdomen, chest pain, and shortness of breath, Can gerd cause these symptoms? I know some of it is anxiety, but i also been getting stomach pain real deep in my stomach, and sometimes that squeezing in my upper abdomen, I have been doing deep brething exercises and did some push ups, i think before my problems of the squeezing of the upper abdomen happened, so the hospital checked my cardiac enzymes, white blood cell count and chest xray, everything came back perfect, I have been under alot of stress lately and have been having severe panic attacks that have been scaring the crap out of me, now this squeezing of my upper abdomen in the center just before the rib cage starts, they told me probably from gerd and gave me pepcid, The pepcid IV did seem to help but these generic pepcid pills aren't doing much, even ocassionaly i get a shooting pain that goes into my back.

Hey there,
I did reply to your post in anxiety re this concern.  You may want to check out the info in this link:
I know you have had many tests and most came back in the normal range.  What I do not know is if you have seen a GI physician and had any testing for GERD/Reflux ? The Dr. who dx your GERD - did he go just by your symptoms ?  Perhaps further tests including an endoscopy is the next step for you.
