For the past 2.5 days I have been feeling nausea on and off, stomach and head. It's not incredibly bad but it's definitely there. What I think triggered it was the fact that I have been on a road trip and we stopped for some beef ribs in Texas, I definitely ate way too many and it was very fatty red meat, which I haven't really eaten much of in the past 5 months due to living abroad. For most of the road trip my meals have been pretty big and full of grease and fat.

Could this all be making my GERD worse to the point that it's causing my nausea? Went to a pharmacy and they told me to take Zantac and Pepto Bismol. I have been taking both and it's sorta working but I can feel the acid in my stomach in the mornings

Welcome to HealingWell. I suspect those ribs you ate had barbucue sauce on them :-) I think it may be your diet and overeating that has caused you a bit of an upset so try to remember to abstain from foods that may trigger your GERD.  I know it is tough when we are on vacation to not be tempted to go for it but we often regret our choices after the fact.  You are human.

I am on Prilosec daily but when what I eat a trigger food that turns on me  I use Tums Ultra in the fruit flavors to help settle down my symptoms.

You are also on a trip and off your normal schedule which can contribute to your GERD spiking a bit.

I hope the rest of your vacation is delightful.

Kindly,
Kitt

Thanks, yea the ribs had tons of bbq sauce on them. I didn't know that bbq sets off gerd tho, is it the sugar?
I'm feeling better, its' been 72 hours and my stomach is a bit off and my sleep is definitely off but the symptoms are way better now. I have been only eating chicken sandwiches lately with some coleslaw (heard that cabbage is good to reduce acid)

So the Tums Ultra are a good way to check my GERD when it's overblown? I'll have to give that a try. Is it ok to mix with my morning Zantac 300?
