What were your manometry and ph results? I know most of us with LPR have normal manometry results and just wanted to see what yours were and discuss what treatment options you are pursuing?

Thanks!!!

Hi Faith, my manometry results showed I had normal motility....I don't have the exact numbers.

PH was about 23. Normal is about 14.

What kind of symptoms do you have?

I tried PPIs didn't work for me....I had the Nissen done 4 weeks ago. I had stomach pains which went away. My throat and mouth burning is still there but I hope it goes away. As far as the surgery pains, they basically gone. I'm still on a soft foods diet.

Good luck Faith on your road to recovery.

Hey Maximum,

23 into your esophagus or throat? Dr. Koufman told me one episode of reflux into the throat is considered to be abnormal. Also, what were you refluxing (acid, non-acid, gas, etc.)?

When my flare-up began, I had post-nasal drip, throat clearing, excessive mucus/globus/pnd, chronic cough, lots of thick and sticky saliva, non-stop belching, and a burning sensation in my nasopharynx cavity every morning upon waking. I also had my first and major flare-up in 2009, in which I also experienced food sticking in my throat.

Since you didn't respond to PPI's, I wonder if you have ever been tested for neuropathy, as sometimes burning is one of the only symptoms of this.

Thank you for the warm wishes, I also wish you a fast and speedy recovery.
Feel Good,

-Faith

Sorry for the typo, I meant to write Maximus, not Maximum.

My DeMeester score was 36, with 98 episodes.

Just for clarity, the pH scale goes from 1-14, with numbers closer to 1 being more acidic. The bravo capsule looks for episodes where the pH in the esophagus goes below 4, which is closer to the pH of the stomach. I think you guys are confusing DeMeester score with pH.

I didn't have the bravo study performed, I underwent a 24 hour double probe ph study and my results told me I refluxed 64 times into my throat.
