Hi,

I woke up a little depressed. I never tell my gf about my condition anymore because she gets mad/upset. We went through a really bad patch last year when I went all out and overloaded her with my condition.
Things have not been the same :(

My family does not understand too.

I feel alone, I can't tell anyone about my condition. Just here.

My morning symptoms are bitter taste in the mornings.
Burping constantly the whole day, mostly dry. I recently started getting heartburn though. I also get throat clearing, and bloating. I think I still have h pylori. I woke up with nausea.

I cant and won't go on ppis I tred all doses and drugs. I can only rely on natural things and I don't have insurance.

I am taking oregano oil encapsulated maybe this made my symptoms worst?

I also take DGL and probiotics.

I am underweight an eat really light.

I just need some support and advice. I hate it, I feel I been cursed. I almost feel I will never get better. And I can't count on anyone.

hi nickles,

hang in there. LPR is a tough conditions.

maybe you should work on things that u can be cured first like h. pylori.

I would just go to the doc get a breath test to confirm h. pylori and get the antibiotics prescription to wipe it out.

It should only take 2-3 weeks to do this.

i know you mentioned you dont have insurance, but i would just pay for it out of pocket.

This way you there are less factors you have to deal with, when trying to figure out the LPR puzzle.

Nickles,

Sounds like you and I share some common symptoms (bad taste in morning, throat clearing, and non-stop belching). I understand what you're saying because I feel as though no non lpr-sufferer could possibly understand how this condition makes us feel. This used to make me really angry but then I realized that I can't expect anyone to understand, but also feel as I have been cursed with this condition. A lot of people truly don't understand reflux, and when someone hears about it they think "oh big deal, it's not that serious." However, what these people don't understand are all the symptoms that come with reflux (i.e. globus, cough, etc.) and how uncomfortable and hopeless this makes us feel. I'm lucky to have caring and supportive friends and family, however, no matter how hard they try, they will never know what it feels like to be me living with this illness.

Jesse is right, LPR is a tough condition. One thing that helps me when I start to get really down about my LPR is that although LPR is pretty rough, there are many worse conditions out there and realize everyone has something to deal with that feels awful to them.

May I ask why you won't take a ppi? Even though these aren't a miracle, they have definitely helped me manage my recent flare-up.

Thanks sk55,

I tested positive for h pylori my first time around. They gave me antibiotics triple therapy. No effect on my symptoms, no side effects either.

I never retested.

2009 we test for h pylori, this time is negative. However, I don't recalle stopping my ppis during the test. I still had symptoms.

I left it as is, lost my job and insurance.

Then in 2011 I tested for h pylori blood and stool antigen test at my school. Did the triple therapy(same one from 2008) and felt bad after.

Tested for antigen h pylori in 2011 July, it was still positive with symptoms.

Since then, I haven't tested again, but I still have symptoms. I tried treating it with natural supplements, but recently I started feeling bad again.

Will another round actually help or make me worse. However, I wouldn't do the same triple theraphy.

Sigh feel so bad and depressed.

Hi faith,

Thank you, for your words.
Te mornings are often the worst for me and it seems like going to be is bad these last 2 wks.

I want to try the koufman diet, but I am thin. I will probably lose more weight.

PPi's never had an effect on any of my symptoms at all. And I feel I tried all of them. I have all my medical records and reviewed all the meds they gave me.

The morning feeling is the one I wish I could get rid of and burping.

My diet is good.

Hi Nickles, I'm sorry you're having a tough time. I tried oregano oil but it was like drinking fire - even very diluted!!

Mastic Gum and D- limonene have been used as natural agents against Helicobacter and may be worth a go. I use lots of licorice too but am still on a ppi - I just can't cope with nausea and the pain.

Maybe worth trying a low carb diet or the Kaufman diet - am sure Sunbeam will give you good support!

Hope you feel better soon

MMM

Nickels,

I am very thin too and was also worried about the weight loss that accompanies the diet. I admit that I did lose five pounds during induction, but this was quickly gained back during maintanence.

How long did you use the PPI's for?

I used PPI's for 5 years on and off, from 2006-2010/11. The throat clearing and burping was always there with the PPI's, acid reducers, and other acid meds and without them.

I have the Koufman book and will try to implement the diet in 3 months. I get off from school then and I think I can focus on my diet more.

I feel better as of right now "throat wise" and "bloating" and no heartburn" as I write this.

It was bad in the morning when I woke up and it is like this 90%of the mornings. Depressed, lack of motivation and tired of suffering :(

I am going to see my school dr. in 2 weeks, let's see what he recommends.

Another thing I feel, bad absorbtion of nutrients in my food. I feel like I do not absorb my nutrients and this is one of the reasons I have been losing weight. Can anyone relate? or advice me on this?

Thank you Faith, MMM, Sk55 for all of your responses, I mean it. I get depress because I know most of you are on PPI's and I am the only one doing this naturally. But you guys and ladies have provided useful advice.

Hey Nickles,

I'm in school too and when my flare-up started over the summer, I was miserable and had a difficult time concentrating on my work but somehow made it through. I understand why you wouldn't want to take PPI's, just wanted to ask because they have been somewhat helpful to me.

Good luck at your Dr.'s appointment, please let us know what he/she says.
Feel Good,

-Faith

Nickles,
No police will come if you skip over the induction phase of the Koufman diet. It is a good way to jump start things, but maybe just going in with the maintanance phase would be better than waiting those three months. Just something to think about, post any questions you have about the diet on the Koufman thread and I will be sure to see them.

Sunbeam,
Lol, thanks for your sense of humor. I admit, I do have to do things a certain way to make sure they work. (somewhat of a perfectionists).

I bought the book, but I have not read it. Well I skimmed through it, but since I am on a allergy free diet, I need to rethink my eating process again.

I was eating everything before my LPR turned worse. I went on a allergy free diet after per my Naturopath I saw 2 times. But I have not seen her since she is expensive.

My allergy free diet consisted of taking out gluten, dairy and soy. (I also did corn too for a while). The purpose was to get my body ready for h pylori eradication. I have been reading many journals and research on h pylori and this was the way to prep. So far it has yet to help completely.

I stopped taking my herbal supplement oregano oil in capsule, so I am going to jot down and see if I feel better or worse in the mornings.

Anyways, I think I will start on the Koufman in 1 week. I get a spring break. I have finals coming up, so looking and buying food for me is a hassle. I want to do it right.

Thanks once again, I am sure I will feel bad in the morning again but you guys and ladies made my mood better. It makes me happy to get so many responses and concerns. Thanks everyone.

Sigh, it is midnight and I feel bad all over again. I just finished talking to my gf, but didn't tell her how I felt.

Just venting again, feel hopeless. My mood swings change so fast. When I feel bad for one moment I feel like it will only get worse. When I feel good I only pray it gets better.

It is midnight and my bed is elevated 7 inches, my shoulder n head are also elevated another 4-6 inches. Gonna try to sleep. :(

I have GERD not LPR but I can sympathize with how you feel. A lot of my friends really do not get it. You should look into some natural remedies such as aloe vera juice, manuka honey, chamamille tea (de caff), slippery elm, and digestive enzymes. I am still doing some research on some others I have heard good reviews for. Consider the Alkaline Diet as well. It is hard to stick to but it works (alkaline foods are veggies minus tomatoes, fruits that are not acidic, poultry, lean meat, lots of water, oats, whole grains etc. You can look it uip on the internet) . I only eat organic food with no preservatives if I can help it (preservitives contain acid) Do not combine meats and startches, only eat starches with veggies and lean meats with veggfies. Eat fruit before the meal. And drink a ton of water. I have been doing this for a month and it has helped.

If you have LPR, the only fruits you should eat are melon, banana, watermelon, and bosc pears (within limit). If you didn't already do so, please check out Dr. Koufman's reflux diet.
Feel Good,
