I used to, i did heavy lifting from March 10th (3 months past) until mid-august where i could hear something popped, while i was doing dips. And now it has loosened up fairly.

Benjawood, have you been checked out? Could it have been an intercostal strain? That makes a definite loud pop.

My symptoms have just gotten worse and worse. I tried to get back to the gym again, a month after. However, that just made matters even worse.

Hi
I'm 4 months post surgery and apart from a gas bloat problem I'm eager to get back to the gym. Will the strain of lifting weights cause me a problem? My surgeon said to go ahead but worried I'll rip out my wrap or something although I imagine that is unlikely.

I’ve had Nissen surgery done and i’ve Gone back to my surgeon and regular GI doctor and was told by all that it would be ok. I beg to differ. I know what I feel when I weight lift. I feel like a pull on my esophagus. I really get the hurtburn/GERD symptoms when I do any abs workout. I too have gone back twice and done a barium swallow and the test came back good. Right now I have the feeling because I got too courageous and did too much abs. So from what I’m hearing from the group is, abs are a no no and don’t push weightlifting too hard. Please respond with your comments.

Hi Dave, I had the surgery just 2 months back end in the process of recovery. I haven’t started lifting weights yet. how are feeling now?. Is your surgery still in place? Are you still lifting weights?

RJK:
You are responding to someone who has not been active on these Boards in 3-1/2 years. I suggest you start you question on a new thread. Your surgeon will advise you as to when to start lifting weights again. The reason I'm telling you this is that the Boards are very slow, and you may not receive any responses.
