Does anyone have sinus issues or ear issues that could be linked to reflux!?? I am wondering if reflux can cause inflammation of sinuses.

Edit:  I gave your thread a title.

Hi Violetstar,
Welcome to the Healing Well GERD forum!  Yes, GERD can create problems with the sinuses.  Here's a link to some information on the subject.  I'm sure you can find more if you Google the topic.

Sorry you're having problems!
Hopefully you will get to the bottom of the problem and things will improve soon.
Best wishes,
Denise

Thank you!!! I had a baby 8 weeks ago and have this weird head pressure with some occasional dizzy spells but mostly it's just pressure! It got ba d in 3rd trimester and post partum and trying to get to the bottom of it. I feel a lot in pressure in my face and post nasal drip. I was wondering if there is a connection!!!! Thank you for responding!denise!!!

Hi Violetstar,
Congratulations on you new baby!  I hope you get your sinuses straightened around.  I don't know where you live, but pollen counts where I live in the northeast are off the charts.  My sinuses give me lots of discomfort and pressure from just going outside.

I find nasal washings to help a lot.  In case you're interested, here's a link to some information:

I do nasal washings twice a day ALWAYS, and during pollen season or when I have a sinus infection I do them more often.

My asthma/allergy doc told me to use this recipe:
1 pint distilled water (no chlorine, chemicals, etc. to irritate)
1/2 tsp kosher or sea salt (again, no anti caking agents/chemicals)
That way you don't have to buy the prepared stuff.

Just a thought, in case what you're experiencing is an allergic sinus issue.

I hope you get feeling better soon!
Enjoy that little baby!
Denise

Unfortunately Yes!! I originally went to the doctor complaining of ear pain and sinus issues because it seemed like i always had a sinus or ear infection. The doctor diagnosed GERD!! I was confused because I never put the two together but she said it mostly happens when I sleep and apparently everything backs up into the esophagus and into the ear/sinuses. Trying to keep it under control is the hard part.

Violetstar,
Tinlou makes a good point regarding sleep and reflux.  Do you have the head of your bed elevated?  It uses gravity to help keep acid in your stomach where it belongs.  Lying flat allows everything to migrate up into your esophagus.
Just a thought...

Because of my GERD I have impacted sinus cavities and they want to do sinus surgery, which will not help until the Gerd is controlled. Also a lot of fluid and popping in my ears.
One night a green bean actually came up and out my nose...gross.
