Hi Joe,
Before I had my Nissen (long before) my PCP doctor had me on Reglan to speed up stomach emptying.  Some people have big concerns about the side effects, but I took it for at least several years with no untoward affects.

The way I think it would work is this--
If your stomach is staying full for a long time and the emptying time is slowed, the Reglan will help move things along.  If your stomach empties more quickly it should feel more comfortable.

My GI doc wasn't a fan of Reglan because of the possible side effects, but as I said, it didn't bother me.
Hope it helps!

I took Reglan for a while and did not find that it helped. Exercise helps my stomach to empty faster. Some doctors do have concerns over side effects but those may be from the law suites.

I did have reactions, muscle twitches in my face and body that lasted for months after stopping. I suspect I might not have had a problem if it had not been prescribed 4 times a day. I'm very sensitive and should probably have taken a half dose also.

But the drug does work! Just beware of the side effects and stop it if you get them. I wasn't aware of the side effects when I started it and ignored the twitches too long. Of course, report side effects to your doctor!

Hi Alcie,
I did only take it once a day.  I'll bet you're right.
I quit taking it because I didn't notice any improvemet (after several years of use it finally dawned on me)--probably because stomach emptying speed wasn't my issue.
Good luck, Joe!

Hi Joe,
I don't think anything beats brisk walking forbeing safe and effective.
I hope you start feeling better very soon.

I was on it twice a day for 5 months. I developed horrible twitches and shakes. It took a bout a year before I stopped chewing and grinding my mouth.
