Greetings. How are things?

The 3 months period is one of my happiest times in life. But alas it was short-lived. Reflux hit me again after some stressful events and return of bad habits.
So I am back. I was one of the unlucky fews where PPI doesn't help and causes problems on me. This has prompted me to explore alternative therapies and i have seen success in overcoming GERD from them. I remain positive I will still be able to fight GERD back one more time and have a longer remission.

WJF,

I am sorry to hear your having issues again.  I know you posted info re Accupuncture - did this help you and is it something you have to keep going ?

I hope returning to what worked for you previously will help you recover from this episode.

Kindly,
Kitt

Hi kitt,

I am at day 2 from acupuncture therapy and already seeing a difference. I have received acupuncture in the past episode, but wasnt so sure of its contribution to my recovery because I did other things as well.

I tried another experimental therapy in the past 2 weeks and it didnt help. So I switch to acupuncture. Now I am trying to get rid of my nightly Zantac dose. I will definitely report my success if I have luck this time.

I bought my own acupuncture kit and spirit. So that I can work on the exact points I want.

Hi WJF - is there a way I can contact you for feedback on acupunture, I am not sure if the boards here have a way to PM you.

But wanted to ask were you ever on PPI? Have you tried to taper off them?

I was on PPI - tapered off - was off one full month - but i started with new symtpoms i never had, which is heart burn. I am back on Aciphex past two days but now was thinking when i taper off to try accupunture as well.

based on my insurance, UHC, it seems to be covered or at least 80%. wanted to get your feeback and how to identify a good acupuncturist

Sure. You may post on my acupuncture thread here.

I will post more info in due time.

I had been on PPI before. Terrible side effects - indigestion. bloating in the middle of the night, insomnia as a result, terrible weight loss.

my gastro doc wanted me to off them immediately. He said I was the only one of his patients who had such reactions, told me to seek help elsewhere, LOL ***!?

I now take those drugs when I have esophagitis - prolonged inflammation, and stop them once it clears up.

WJF,

Sorry your GERD is back.

For years I suffered terrible GERD, and I was on Nexium for a good 2 + years, without much help.
Then when I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, and the meds didn't work for me, I had to come up with some alternatives to help myself, which worked great in putting my UC in remission.
BUT as a side effect of a few of the steps I did, my GERD went away.
So I thought I would share these with you:
1) After every meal, I would use organic slippery elm powder, about 1 1/2 teaspoons to 1 tablespoon in 1-2 oz. of room temp filtered water, wait for it to gel just a little and then drink it down. What the slippery elm powder does is: it coates the whole alimentary canal.
2) I started a food combining diet, and that made a huge difference, because if you mis-combine the wrong foods it will create havoc, gas, distension, and the acid will back up....painfully so. Here's a link that explains about the food combining:
Since doing these steps, I have ZERO GERD! What a relief! I even get to sleep through the night without that aweful chlorox-like burn that used to wake me up by choking me.

InSoFla,
Please refrain from pushing your agenda on other people's threads. This is obviously irritating to members. I'm not saying anything for or against the treatments you recommend, but hijacking threads is not acceptable. If you persist, I will have to ban your account.
